On my charity trip to Vietnam in January 2022, I travelled to the remote Đa Krông District in the country’s North Central region. The roads were bumpy, the air heavy with heat, the houses worn by dust and time, and weary faces told stories of hardship. But what caught my attention most was the sound of laughter. A group of children in sun-bleached clothes were running barefoot through red-dirt fields, their kites dancing against the deep blue sky. The sight stopped me in my tracks.

In that moment, I saw something powerful: the pure joy of children living in hardship. Those kites, stitched together from whatever materials they could find, carried more than paper and string. They carried resilience. They carried joy. That moment became the heart of Green Kites International Association. Our name is a promise—to help dreams and hope rise above hardship, just like those kites in the wind.

Green Kites was founded in early 2023. By 2025, Green Kites was officially registered in Australia as a non-profit organization — an important milestone that strengthens our legitimacy and ensures transparency for our supporters. It took two years of tireless dedication from every member of our team — and many trials by fire — for Green Kites to take flight in the form you see today.

Our team spans Australia, the United States, and Vietnam, enabling us to mobilize resources across countries. Our hearts beat to the same rhythm, united by one shared mission. It is always our greatest joy to close the distance — working hand in hand on site, rolling up our sleeves, and getting our hands dirty alongside our volunteers and local communities at every opportunity. We are proud of the organization we have built together, and even prouder of the impact it is making every day.
