Our Mission
Green Kites International Association (GKIA) is a youth-led, non-profit organisation dedicated to improving the long-term well-being of underprivileged and vulnerable children in Vietnam’s most remote and underserved regions.
Through community-embedded, engineering-informed, and education-driven programs, GKIA applies practical engineering, systems thinking, and data-informed design to address persistent challenges facing children in resource-constrained environments. Our work prioritises durability, scalability, and long-term local ownership.
Core Program Areas
GKIA focuses on three core program pillars:
1. Infrastructure Projects
These projects deliver robust physical and systems-based infrastructure designed for long service life, low maintenance, and effective operation in challenging environments. Solutions are tailored to local conditions and emphasise reliability over complexity.
Key initiatives include:
- Clean water systems, including rain-harvesting and filtration infrastructure
- Blood and breast-milk bank infrastructure supported by digital donor-management systems
- School computer laboratories enabling digital access and skills development
- Community libraries supporting literacy and self-directed learning
- School playgrounds designed for safe, inclusive use and child development
These programs address essential health needs through preventive, low-cost, and scalable interventions embedded within schools and local communities, reducing long-term health risks and improving educational participation.
Key initiatives include:
- Preventive dental health programs for vulnerable children
- Distribution of dental, hygiene, and first-aid kits
- School-based health outreach and basic screening support
- Nutrition- and hygiene-focused health interventions
These initiatives focus on building technical literacy, health awareness, and long-term opportunity through applied learning, early exposure to STEM, and equitable access to educational resources.
Key initiatives include:
- STEM workshops
- Health and hygiene education workshops
- Dental education programs
- Drown Prevention program
- Scholarships
- Book donation
